We are a vibrant congregation deeply involved in our local community.
Everything from our annual chili dog fundraiser for UNICEF on Halloween... to hosting IVC Flowers from the Heart every summer... to the seasonal tunes that play from our organ out through the steeple of our church and into Winslow...
we love being at the hub of downtown Bainbridge Island.
We've been here since 1882 and we are grateful to have deep roots in this community.

In 1915 the Bainbridge Island Japanese American community gathered at Eagle Harbor Church to celebrate the Japanese Emperor Taishō’s enthronement. Back then the building faced a totally different direction! A beautiful photo. Many of these families had been strawberry farming on Bainbridge since the 1880s. All would later be forced to leave during the exclusion and internment of WW2. You can learn more at http://bijac.org.
Our Liberator Lives: This past Sunday we continued our celebration of Resurrection Stories as we listened to stories of liberation. Pastor Dee shared a moving story of a man seeking asylum in Iowa Falls and what a large part the holy cry of community plays in the miracle of liberation. "It’s our turn as God’s people here and now to carry on this legacy of liberation, of hearing the cries of the suffering and doing whatever’s in our power to conspire with God to bring relief."
This Sunday as part of our ongoing theme of Revolutionary Love — as examined in Valarie Kaur’s memoir See No Stranger — we’ll be hearing Rev. Dee preach on the subject of Rage. Kaur writes: “The opposite of love is not rage. The opposite of love is indifference. Love engages all our emotions: Joy is the gift of love. Grief is the price of love. Anger is the force that protects that which is loved. We cannot access the depth of loving ourselves or others without our rage.”
