bhs class of 2011 @ baccalaureate
Hungry Readers Book Group: We will meet on Monday, April 15 at noon in our fellowship hall to discuss The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. Copies in various formats are available at local libraries. Please join us to discuss this important book.
Good Friday: We’ll gather on Friday, April 19 at 7pm in the sanctuary for a contemplative service that will combine music, literary arts and visual arts commemorating Christ’s death. Our poetry and slide show images will feature works by Black, Indigenous, and People-of-Color. It’s one of the more beautiful things we do, year after year. So come, and bring friends.
Easter, April 21: Our “sunrise” service will be at Fay Bainbridge Park’s large picnic shelter at 7am, regardless of the actual time of the sunrise. We hope you can join us for heartwarming worship around the campfire, with bagels and cream cheese and coffee afterwards. We’d welcome contributions of Easter eggs for breakfast as well, if you have some to spare. Dress appropriately for the weather, and bring friends.
And/or, join us as we gather in our sanctuary for a joyful service celebrating the Resurrection at 9:30am Easter Sunday. As we did last year, we invite you to bring a single flower or small bouquet to place on the altar or in a shared vase when you enter the sanctuary for the 9:30am service. At the end of the service, we’ll encourage you to take a different flower home with you. We plan to have an Easter Egg Hunt for the youngsters in the back yard following the service.
