Eagle Harbor Youth

Every Wednesday during the school year:

Leadership
(senior youth group): 4:15-5:00pm

Junior Youth Group (for grades 5-7) : 5:00-5:45pm

Dinner
(for both groups): 5:45-6:30pm

Senior Youth Group (for grades 8-12) : 6:30-7:30pm

EHCC Youth Groups get together for a regular weekly meeting and periodically for special events. When we’re together we:

  • Have Fun: We have movie nights, go on field trips, celebrate festive occasions together...
  • Explore: We discuss all sorts of aspects of faith and Christianity (and other religions!) including how faith/religion affects our lives. We ask lots of questions; we don’t have all the answers.
  • Do Service: We help out at church and in the community: from church projects to befriending the elderly and shut-ins to volunteering with Helpline House and the Streets of Seattle...we care about the needs of others!
  • Worship: We pray and praise together. And we prepare an annual Youth Sunday worship service.
  • Go on a Mission Trip: Every year those of us in the Senior Youth Group participate in a mission trip specifically geared to helping a community in need. This is a highlight of the year

Leadership Group:

This group meets regularly on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:30p. We plan many different youth group activies such as: youth group meetings, mission trip, 30 hour famine, and fun trips to places like Wild Waves. The group is open to anyone in the Senior Youth group who has gone through a Confirmation class.

Currently, the Leadership group is going through the book Lead Like Jesus by Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges.  This book examines several key aspects of Jesus' ministry and helps equate them into a leadership model people can use today.

Youth Group:

Currently the youth group is going through a World Religion curriculum.  We are studying aspects of the different major world religions and having guests come in to share with the group their own beliefs.  The group also discusses whether or not they feel the values are realistic or are significant for their own lives today.

Calendar:

Here at EHCC, we are of the philosophy that it takes an entire village to raise a child; and what a wonderful village we have! We gratefully encourage and accept the volunteer assistance of Wednesday evening cooks, guest meeting facilitators, field trip and mission trip chaperones, etc. Please talk to us about how you can be a part of our program!

EHCC underwrites much of the cost of the youth group program in its annual budget. However, families are asked to contribute to the cost of Wednesday evening dinners on a per week or per quarter basis And some activities may have an additional fee, such as ferry or event tickets and special meals. The annual mission trip is covered through a combination of Youth Group fund-raising and family contributions. Scholarship assistance is usually available upon request for any of the above mentioned situations.
