Our weekly worship service is Sunday morning at 9:30. We have Sunday School and childcare that run concurrent with the service; children attend the first half of the service, then they may leave for classes. Come one, come all!
On the first Sunday
of each month, our worship service is an all-ages, communion service.
Sunday Schoolers will be invited to leave the Sanctuary during the sermon to join in Story Circle in the fellowship hall (no Sunday school, but, yes, childcare is available for the very young).
Walking with God
Join us in worship at Eagle Harbor Church this summer, as we journey through Biblical stories and explore what it means to live in Christian community. Through story-telling, song, art and prayer, we will listen for how God is calling us to walk with the Spirit. Children will be invited to stay for the story-telling of Scripture, and then they will be excused for Sunday School, which will be held by the Ark in the backyard (weather permitting). Our theme for Summer Sunday School is "All God's Critters." As they learn about various animals, the children will explore the theme for the day in a fun and concrete way. The season will end with an Animal Blessing Ceremony in the church backyard at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 29; this will be a great event to invite your friends and neighbors to attend. ~Pastor Emily

Emerging Worship Gatherings
The Harbor will start up again September. In its place this summer we are offering two emerging worship gatherings. Emerging worship engages all the senses, and encourages full participation whenever possible. Gatherings are usually not in church sanctuaries, but in simple and comfortable rooms where people can sit in a circle or clusters. Traditional worship elements are not discarded, but re-imagined.
“Although the United Church of Christ is declining at a slower rate than in years past, the denomination's leaders are not complacent about numbers. Fostering growth and vitality at a time when mainline denominations are shrinking means taking risks, reaching out to young adults and youth, and rethinking what it means to be church.”
—from ucc.org “Reframing the UCC”
Rev. Stephen Sterner, executive minister for Local Church Ministries, writes: "Some existing churches are also increasingly stepping into elements of emerging churches," and understanding the difference is a key to the renewal of any congregation. He said the emerging church:
- is interested in moving to where its vision is.
- is mission driven.
- has less interest in structure and more in relational communities.
- draws its identity from multiple connections and partnerships.
- has "disciples" rather than "members." There are expectations for being a disciple.
- doesn't only "use" technology, but sees technology as part of its ethos.
- is drawn to networks and relationships more than historical ties.
Sterner writes that "Increasingly the scales will be tilting to the emerging church" as new congregations grow and established congregations renew their life and become more like "emergent" churches.
Come and join us in the youth room for an informal worship gathering on July 11 and August 8 at 5:00 p.m. Bring your family and friends and invite your neighbors!
July 11: “A boy shares his lunch.” Exploring the story through guided meditation, song, food, and art.
August 8: “Miriam rejoices.” We'll make instruments, learn a dance, tell stories and celebrate Communion.
